“ *The Real Deal Italian Deli* Was in the area in between appointments, and decided to check out this place to surprise my 1/2 Italian wife with some Cannolis. From the moment I stepped inside this authentic Italian deli & market, I was kindly greeted from a group of team members behind the deli counter. At first glance, I observed what appeared as a regular customer picking up an order...so I decided to be me ~~ strike up a conversation and ask what he ordered...and was also told "you can't go wrong with anything here." Then I walked around every nook & corner of this quant stylish place...and was very impressed with how much top-notch merchandise is packed inside this stellar yet smaller space. Cannoli Mission: Went over to the bakery counter, met cool & kind Mel, and asked "how are the Cannoli's?" And without a beat I was asked if I wanted to sample one? Very impressive...and who am I to say "no" with cheating with a little gluten & dairy. Because when it comes to authentic treats, I'm a glutton for punishment ;-) Was even more impressed when I realized all their Cannolis are freshly prepared to order. After my first bite I was SOLD...and ordered 2 mini's to take home for the wife. Also noticed they have mini cute custard fruit tarts -- another one of her favs, so I told him to throw one in there too. While waiting, I struck up a nice convo with an elderly woman who came in to pick up some dessert treats to go along with some prepared dinner food to accompany her Italian feast. It was at that point I knew I found an Italian gem in the heart of Palm Springs. Just when I thought it was over: Upon departure, after already paying for my treats from the sweet & lovely cashier, I observed a guy sitting down solo at one of the small communal tables inside, about to sink his fork & teeth into FIVE Meatballs. I love good meatballs (it's a burger & meatloaf thing I blame on my Mother ;) so I decided to channel Mom's Father (my Grandpa) and with a smile on my face I say, "those must be good?" He laughs and says, "I just got home last night @10pm from being in Rome for 10 days..." and before he can finish his thoughts, I said, "you just answered my question." And we both had a good laugh together and chit chatted some more. Then I went back to the deli counter and ordered 2 meatballs to go...along with a freshly baked Italian Roll...so I can make my own sando later on at home. Because that's how I roll. Post Game Show: The meatballs were fricken Double D Delicious -- made & prepared just how I like & prefer -- meaty and not too fluffy without too much egg & breadcrumbs. The sauce? Justa like-ah momma yousta make. And the Italian roll? Perfecto. And my sando? Fantastico. Only complaint? Should've brought home some more ;-) But didn't because we were going away for the weekend. Wifey loved the mini Cannoli and the mini Custard Fruit Tart too...and appreciated my surprise & effort. She also really enjoyed dipping a piece of the Italian roll into some of the marinara sauce I saved her. Because that's how we both roll. Once back home, I realized The Real Italian Deli has another location in Palm Desert, which is closer to home...and now that I discovered this authentic Italian deli & store, return visits are most definitely in store for more of all the above...some other things I scouted out...and wifey looks forward to getting some of their imported olive oils. “ I love the real Italian deli they do a phenomenal job and everything they do. Their sandwiches are fresh packed and delicious. The people that work behind the counter are very understanding patient and kind. The food is absolutely delicious. You can't go wrong with any of their baked items or their sandwiches. The reason I'm only giving them four stars is strictly because they do not accept cash. I expected to pay my bill with cash and they have no way of accepting cash which I think is totally ridiculous. I had to go out to my car grab my wallet and use a credit card I try to avoid using my credit cards whenever possible and they do not accept cash. ”

“ The deli is soooo cute and quick! We went for work lunch break and were in and out in less than 15 minutes. The sandwiches are delicious and taste fresh. I ordered the spicy combo, and while it wasn't very spicy, it was still super yummy. There's also a variety of beverages and foods at the deli that are an ode to their Italian theme! While more on the expensive side, I'm a believer that a delicious sandwich is always worth it! ”
